My artwork explores the relationship between the cosmos and terrestrial beings as a synthesis of the sensation that universal energy exerts on the body and that the body exerts on the universe.
The symbolist poet, Stephane Mallarmé, had the conviction that reality is expressed in a more precise way through poetry, since it paralleled nature rather than representing it. Taking this statement as a source of inspiration, my paintings seek to generate the sensation of permeability in the body, as it were a filter of universal energy. Through a set of rhythmic textural brushstrokes, my paintings not only make a musical mimesis, but can have a synesthetic quality where the haptic, the gustatory and even the sonorous are part of the total experience that I try to offer to the viewer.
Through large format paintings I try to position this medium, as a semblance of oceanic fullness and archaic times, where human societies had not yet stablished the dichotomy between civilization and nature.
